Spectrum Network Fix

Some broadband network providers "shape" their traffic. Some traffic is prioritized (such as Netflix) while others are not. Creating a static connection to the machine helps to avoid network translation and help with this issue.

Step 1

From the dashboard on the machine get into settings and go into maintenance. In the open white area below the options in the page tap 10 times relatively fast, wait 7 seconds without touching the screen, then tap 10 more times relatively fast (if you are not able to get into maintenance, you can do it on most screens as long as you are not tapping on any buttons). You will see a message at the bottom of the screen that will disappear that will say “settings privilege mode: true”. Next swipe up from the bottom of the screen and tap the small circle.

Step 2

You should now be on the android desktop. If a message appears welcoming you to this page just tap “ok” or “got it”, then tap the circle with the 6 dots. Go into settings and choose “backup and reset” → “factory data reset” → “erase tablet” → “erase everything”. This will not erase your iFit account, it will just reset the software that runs the machine.

Step 3

This should eventually  bring you to a blue welcome screen after power cycling. If any pop ups show up simply tap “ok” or “allow”. Do not continue the machine set up at this point, this will be done in step 6. From here get back into the android desktop by tapping 10 times relatively fast, wait 7 seconds without touching the screen, then tap 10 more times relatively fast. You will see a message at the bottom of the screen that will disappear that will say “settings privilege mode: true”. Next swipe up from the bottom of the screen and tap the small circle.

Step 4

Tap the circle with the 6 dots and get into settings. Tap “wifi” and connect to your wifi network. Please do not choose a 5g network, as this machine works best connected to a 2.4g network. Once it says “connected” under your network name, swipe up and tap on the small circle. Tap the circle with the 6 dots and go into “iFit Admin”. Write down the “MAC address” and “IP address”, please do not tap any of the buttons in this area as it could potentially damage your console. Swipe up and tap on the small circle, then tap the circle with the 6 dots. Tap the “iFit Cardio” app and it should then bring you back the main application.

Step 5

Disable privileged mode again by by anywhere on the screen where there is not a button tap 10 times relatively fast, wait 7 seconds without touching the screen, then tap 10 more times relatively fast. You will see a message at the bottom of the screen that will disappear that will say “settings privilege mode: false”. Turn your machine off at this point.

Step 6

If you own your wifi router and do not rent from your internet service company go to your router settings and create a custom rule connecting your MAC and IP address together creating a static internal network IP address.

If you do not own your router you will need to contact your internet company to have them do this for you. Give them the items written down in Step 4, Mac Address and IP Address and ask for them to create a static IP for those on your network.

Some other settings that you should check on your WiFi router that can help your machine to connect properly are:

  • DHCP: Enabled
  • Broadcast Publicly (Not a Guest Network)
  • MAC Address Filtering: Disabled
  • Frequency: 2.4ghz
  • Broadcast in: 802.11 B/G/N
  • Security: WPA2-PSK
  • These 3 ports need to be unblocked:
    • Port 80 - HTTP
    • Port 443 - HTTPS/TCP
    • Port 4348 - UDP
  • WiFi Passwords cannot contain any special characters; only numbers and/or letters
  • Passwords that are more than 13 characters in length have also caused issues

Step 6

Turn your machine back on at this point. It will bring you to the blue welcome screen. From here go ahead and continue with the set up steps. Try out a workout, and your buffering speed should be much faster.
