Connecting a heart rate monitor

A heart rate monitor is used in conjunction with iFIT's ActivePulse™ and SmartAdjust™ features. *Please note that ActivePulse™ is only currently available on NordicTrack treadmills that include iFIT, not Bluetooth®-enabled treadmills.

To connect a heart rate monitor to your machine, follow these steps:

  1. Connect a Bluetooth heart rate monitor by placing the device around your forearm or chest, depending on your model, and powering it on.
  2. Navigate to the iFIT Library and scroll down to the “Heart rate training” section.
  3. Tap on the workout you’d like to complete, then tap START WORKOUT.
  4. Read the disclaimer that appears and tap ACCEPT.
  5. Dismiss the warmup by tapping the END WARMUP button. As your workout begins, make sure your heart rate monitor is turned on. Your treadmill will automatically scan to connect to your Bluetooth-enabled heart rate monitor. This scan can take up to 30 seconds.

SmartAdjust™

SmartAdjust™ auto-updates your workout, based on your history and how you adjust your speed, incline, or decline during your workout. Over time, this technology establishes a baseline, then alters your workouts for you as you progress.

To access SmartAdjust™ on your machine, follow these steps:

  1. Select any Treadmill workout from the Dashboard or Library.
  2. Once the workout starts, SmartAdjust will begin automatically. You will receive a notification during your warmup that informs you that iFIT has taken your past workouts into account to craft a personalized one for you today. This means that the original programming of the workout could differ, depending on the custom intensity level iFIT sets for you at the beginning of your workout.
  3. With SmartAdjust on, each time you make an adjustment to either your speed or incline, iFIT will automatically scale the rest of the workout to match that new intensity level. This means that you’re still following along with the trainer, but at a modified speed or incline.
